Biography

A brief history

Delon Wright was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, as the middle child to parents Ray and Stacy Wright. Growing up in a sports immersed family and with older brother, Dorell Wright, consistently showing no mercy in their backyard hoops games, proved to be the perfect breeding grounds for Delon’s path to collegiate and professional success.

Never seeming to be in the shadow of his NBA brother, Delon quietly put in the extra hours to sharpen his basketball skills at Leuzinger High School. When invited to play with big bro at the no nonsense Los Angeles Pro-Am “The Drew League” against other NBA superstars, and measuring up on the court with pros, is when Delon realized he too had what it took to play at the highest level of basketball. With his grades not reflecting the same effort he put on the court, Delon had to attend a junior college and found himself at San Francisco City College with his hoop dreams seemingly slipping away.

As brother Dorell soared in his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors, Delon’s motivation to pick up his grades and transfer to a Division 1 college became unstoppable. He obtained his Associate’s degree and transferred to the University of Utah in 2013, igniting his fire to do what most city college athletes fail to accomplish.

During his two-year stint with the Utes, Delon was a two-time first-team All-Conference player in the Pac-12 and named to the Pac-12 All-Defensive team twice. His premier college performance earned Delon the Bob Cousy Award in 2015. Committed to academic achievement, Delon graduated from Utah University in 2015 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology.

Delon beat all odds and accomplished his dream of being drafted to the NBA as the Toronto Raptors first round twentieth pick. Delon has quickly become a Raptor’s fan favorite, dubbed “55 Savage”, and leader of the infamous “Bench Mob”. Successfully producing for the Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards, Delon has cemented himself as a proven and valuable NBA Vet.
